Art is dead and we know it, killed by mundane cancers.

Art is dead and many so-called avant-gardes are already obsolete. By transforming contemporary art into basic consumables, whose originals become speculative titles and their reproductions simple decorative accessories sold at super markets, the Temple Merchants have stripped art of its conceptual essence and its sense of critique. Amidst the cemetery of contemporary creations, the artist becomes a mere grave-digger of preconceived ideas; a pirate of our amputated reality, his role must be to show what we deny to see, as opposed to trying to please the masses. Art cannot be such without the commitment through which the artist expresses himself beyond consensus, apriorism and censorship.
Art cannot be such without freedom.

The artist, drowning in the flood of information, may bear witness to the world and imagine our future solely by unyeilding observations of the state of current affairs. A visionary, the artist foresees the mutations of our era, anticipates the transformation of our aesthetical, ideological and social values. The world’s heartbeat as his metronome, his art is an action. The chaos of our times becomes his materia prima, his fertile ground. History’s strength is such that it is his duty to become its narrator.

Nous le savons, l’art est mort, tué par les mêmes cancers que notre monde.

L’art est mort et bien des prétendues avants-gardes sont déjà obsolètes. En transformant l’art contemporain en produit de consommation courante dont les originaux deviennent des titres spéculatifs et des reproductions, des accessoires de décoration en vente en supermarché, les marchands du temple ont dépossédé l’art de son essence conceptuelle et de son sens critique. Dans le cimetière de la création contemporaine, l’artiste devient fossoyeur des idées préconçues ; il est pirate de nos réalités tronquées ou il n’est pas. La fonction de l’artiste aujourd’hui ne peut être que de montrer ce que les autres ne veulent voir, et non de plaire au plus grand nombre comme on a trop longtemps voulu nous le faire croire.
Il n’est d’art sans un engagement à travers lequel l’artiste s’exprime au delà des intérêts, des consensus, des aprioris et des censures.
Il n’est d’art s’il n’est libre.

Baigné dans le flot d’information qui nous submerge chaque jour, l’artiste ne pourra témoigner de notre monde et imaginer notre avenir que par un regard sans concession sur notre actualité. Visionnaire, il entrevoit les mutations de notre monde, anticipe la transformation de nos valeurs esthétiques, idéologiques et sociales. Il se rythme sur les battements de coeur de notre monde. Son art est action. Le chaos de notre monde devient sa materia prima, son terreau fertile.
La force de l’histoire est telle qu’il est de son devoir d’en devenir le narrateur…
